An unattended candle has been determined as the cause of a fire at a house in Boston.

The incident took place in Revesby Avenue yesterday (Tuesday, April 14).

A spokesman for the service said the incident resulted in ‘significant’ fire damage to a first-floor bedroom.

An investigation into the fire determined that the cause was an unattended candle, they added.

“We ask the public to please never leave candles burning unattended, ensure they are secured in a proper holder on a heat-resistant surface, and that they are properly extinguished before leaving them,” the spokesman said.
