UPDATE: Three arrested after fatal collision between car and tractor

Three people have been arrested in connection with a fatal collision involving a car and a tractor.

Lincolnshire Police were “saddened” to confirm that a 59 year old man had died following the collision on Tuesday, December 16, on the outskirts of Metheringham.

The incident, involving a tractor and a green Ford Kuga, was reported at around 1.39pm on the B1189 Martin Road, almost directly outside the entrance to Barff Farm.

A police spokesperson said: “The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene and the female passenger sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.

“The man’s family are aware and they are being supported by specially trained officers. The driver of the tractor was uninjured."

Martin Road was closed for some time to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

On Christmas Day (December 25) at 5pm, police released a statement saying a 62-year-old man, a 28-year-old man, and a 61-year-old woman have been questioned and have been released under investigation.

Police investigators were appealing for witnesses and any dashcam footage to help progress inquiries. They were particularly interested in identifying the driver of a small black car who may have witnessed the moments leading up to the collision.

They have added: “We continue to appeal for witnesses who may have seen either the JCB Fastrack tractor registration SN08 ESF with blue trailer, or the green Ford Kuga registration AE75 JKX prior to the collision, and whomever may have any CCTV or dashcam footage.”
