The emergency services were called out to reports of a male who had entered the water at Trusthorpe Point - and ended up 200 metres out to sea.

HM Coastguard

Mablethorpe Coastguard were paged by Humber Coastguard to attend the scene at around 2.10am this morning (Thursday).

A Mablethorpe Coastguard spokesman said: "We arrived on scene and two security guards that were on the prom told us the location of the male.

"RNLI Mablethorpe Lifeboat Station launched the inshore lifeboat and headed to the location, where they found him 200 meters out to sea.

"Initially he was reluctant to board the ILB but after some persuasion the male got into the boat and they brought him safely to shore, where was met by members of the Coastguard Team and Lincolnshire Police.

"He was assisted off the beach and into the waiting ambulance. We wish him a speedy recovery."
