During 2023, the Lincolnshire Wolds is celebrating its 50th anniversary as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and it’s an ideal opportunity to discover more about this protected, living, working and thriving landscape.

The 50th Anniversary is a chance to celebrate all that has been achieved in working to protect and enhance the Lincolnshire Wolds, it’s habitats and physical features, it’s heritage, culture, communities and management.

To mark this landmark jubilee, a series of events to showcase, promote and engage with people who live, work and visit the Lincolnshire Wolds will be held, from walks and talks to practical tasks, with the programme of events running from April through to December – with 50 events for 50 years.

The events are being run by the Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service, the Lincolnshire Chalk Stream Project and the AONB Farming in Protected Landscapes network along with various partners, and the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance (LNAA) is the chosen charity of the Lincolnshire Wolds Joint Advisory Committee for this programme.

The Lincolnshire Wolds chairman, Councillor Richard Avison, said: “The beauty of our landscape has brought a real joy throughout recent trying times for everyone and reinvigorated the nation’s interest in our countryside. Harnessing that interest along with Government initiatives will provide an ideal opportunity to promote and celebrate our Lincolnshire Wolds AONB 50th anniversary.

“We look forward to seeing you at the forthcoming events, come along and enjoy a part of the countryside which we proudly represent.”

Tanya Taylor, Head of Corporate, Community and Events for LNAA said: “We’re incredibly thankful to the Lincolnshire Wolds Joint Advisory Committee for supporting our charity.

"Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance provides rapid life-saving emergency response to one and a half million people across two and a quarter million acres of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and as we receive no Government funding, we rely on the generosity of the public to keep us in the skies and saving lives.”
