The 20-tonne tip clean-up on a country lane between Fulbeck and Leadenham Hill took place last Wednesday co-ordinated by South Kesteven District Council’s Environmental Health Team and the Environment Agency as investigations to trace the culprits continue.

Local firm TDF were drafted in, taking a day to remove what is described as one of Lincolnshire’s worst fly-tipping incidents, with three 40-yard loads left in the lane a month ago.

The problem of fly-tipping was magnified during lockdown as the usual council disposal points were closed. There have been two other major dumping incidents in the area at Leadenham and Cranwell.

SKDC Cabinet member Coun Dr Peter Moseley said: “This is the largest fly-tip I have ever seen.

“It is an example of appalling anti-social behaviour and disrespect for both our environment and local residents.

“If we can bring people to account for this despicable act against our countryside, I hope the legal process will support our aim to stamp this out by issuing the most severe penalty available.”

SKDC also urges anyone using a waste carrier to check that they are legal and registered by calling 03708 506506 or visiting https://bit.ly/check-waste-carrier
