‘Click and tip’ service will be up and running in the coming weeks say Lincolnshire County Council

A click and tip service will see residents book a slot at their local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

According to a Lincolnshire County Council spokeswoman, slots will be released in the coming weeks.

Once slots are available, residents can call 01522 782070 (Mon-Fri 8am to 6pm).

In a statement on Friday, a Lincolnshire County Council spokesperson said: “Just like other services across the UK, there will social distancing measures in place and for your safety and ours, we need to manage the amount of people and cars going on site at any one time.

“Residents will be only able to go on site if they have a confirmed booking.

“Initially, we will only be able to accept garden waste and wood, and then look to introduce other types of waste as and when we can.

“No vans, pickups or trailers will be allowed on site at this time.”

Eddy Poll, executive councillor for waste and recycling at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “I know it’s been frustrating having the sites closed for almost six weeks and we know many residents have excess waste to dispose of.

“We’re introducing a new booking system so we can safely manage the numbers of people into and out of the sites, quantities and operate within the government’s social distancing guidelines.

“Many residents have been in touch about their garden waste, so with this in mind, we will be open for green waste and wood first. Again, I know many residents will have other waste to dispose of and we are working hard to see how we can accept these in a safe manner.

“We are grateful for your patience, and by working together we can safely restore this much needed service.”

Once slots become available, residents are reminded that:

• They should only visit if absolutely necessary (eg if excess waste represents a health and safety risk)

• Anyone in self-isolation or with Covid-19 symptoms MUST NOT visit sites under any circumstances.
