On Tuesday, the government announced a relaxation on restrictions for Household Waste Recycling Centres, but the situation in Lincolnshire has not changed at the moment.

Coun Eddy Poll, executive member for waste at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We took the decision to close the household waste recycling centres (tips) at the beginning of the lockdown period, as a journey to one wasn’t considered essential, as per the government advice.”

This has led to concerns from residents in other areas about an increase in fly tipping, although this has not materialised in North Kesteven yet, according to the authority.

Coun Poll went on: “We understand it is frustrating, but please bear with us. We are working hard with our partners, both in the county and the East Midlands, to find a way to reopen as soon as possible.

“For us, it isn’t as simple as just opening the doors. There are many issues we need to consider, the two key ones: how do we keep both you and our staff safe operating within the social distancing guidelines, and secondly, the onward destination of your waste, as many of our partners are not functioning as usual.

“We are working towards a date in the next few weeks, so as soon as more information is available, we will share it with you.”
