Further funding for Brigg footpath

The riverside cycle and footpath was started in 2015 and the first two completed lengths were from Brigg Town Centre to Castlethorpe and then to Broughton Bridge.

The eventual destination is to the Humber at South Ferriby. Now, after further funding of £70,000, work is under way to make the path more attractive to users by adding benches, litter bins and lighting to the area near the town centre County Bridge. Some parts of the route are temporarily being closed while the developments take place and restrictions currently apply on the stretch between County Bridge and the Lidl supermarket. It is expected the work will take six weeks to complete. Environmental improvements affecting wildlife and explanation boards are being put in place further down the path and mile marker boards are being introduced for walkers, runners and cyclists. North Lincolnshire Council has already provided some £500,000 for the creation and development of the route, as part of encouraging health and fitness in the local community.
