It will kick off with a ‘Global Supper’ where people can sample food from around the world, accompanied by information about how that particular area and its food production could be affected by global warming and climate change.

There will be a short presentation on climate change by Geoff Stratford, followed by a talk by Nick Thorley and Victor Mughogho of Christian Aid in Malawi, who will describe how global warming is impacting sub-Saharan Africa, where he works.

Finally, Sleaford and North Hykeham MP Stephen Phillips will speak on the UK Government’s stance on the issue and how it is delivering on ambitious plans for lowering carbon emissions and supporting renewable energy in Lincolnshire, followed by an opportunity to ask questions.

This free event is expected to finish at about 9pm.

The Speak Up Week of Action will see thousands of local people meeting their MPs across the country between October 8-16. From WI nature walks to church tea parties, community energy visits to school activities, people from all walks of life will make sure their politicians see how much their constituents care about climate change.
