Green light for plans for additional 41 caravans to be installed at caravan park

Plans to put an additional 41 static caravans at a Lincolnshire holiday park have been given the green light.

Kevin Palmer applied to East Lindsey District Council for the change of use of land to form an extension at Hill View Lakes Caravan Park, Skegness Road, Hogsthorpe, near Skegness.

Mr Palmer also applied to excavate land to form two wildlife ponds and to buidl an internal access road to the site.

The district council has approved the application, subject to conditions.

In a report, the district council said: “The application is considered to satisfy the requirements of adopted policy as an extension to an existing caravan park having adequately demonstrated how the site would not cause unacceptable harm to the character of the countryside, wider landscape, protected species and/or important habitats to meet the requirements of SP10, SP19 and SP25 of the East Lindsey Local Plan.

“Technical issues in relation to highways requirements, drainage and flood risk, ecology and contaminated land and can all be secured via conditions to make the development acceptable.”

It added that the proposal would be acceptable based on the “requirements of the council’s Local Plan policies” and the conditions imposed on the application.

But Hogsthorpe Parish Council said that it “objects to the expansion of the caravan site”.

It added: “This site has already become an intense development of caravans and to add a further 41 caravans is totally incompatible with the local area.

“Additional comments have been made in relation to inadequate public transport provisions, increases in traffic, the character of the area and overdevelopment.”

The highways team at Lincolnshire County Council said it had assessed the proposal and ruled that it’s not expected to have an “unacceptable impact” on road safety and is unlikely to create an “increased surface water flood risk”.
