Have your say on essential future Council services

A North Lincolnshire Council consultation exercise, with people within their communities has begun, and will help decide how these essential services will best serve the communities in coming years.

The service will continue to cost £1 million a year to provide.

North Lincolnshire Council leader Liz Redfern said of the consultation: “Grass cutting and street sweeping are both incredibly important services that we provide for residents and we are committed to ensuring that council staff continue to deliver these going forward.

“This year for example, we have started with a very wet period and also one of the warmest, which has left us behind in grass cutting and we have a plan in place to catch up over the next few weeks.

“However, any delays in cutting are simply not good enough and we need to improve on this dramatically and plan more effectively. These circumstances have enabled us to consider just how effective our current approach is.”

She continued: “The resident consultation will inform our approach to delivering the service in the future.

“ The only presumption attached to the future service will be our desire to have local teams, based in defined areas and accountable to local people on their record.

“We want residents to be proud of the environment they live in, and I want to ensure that tax-payers’ money is spent wisely, delivering what communities want.”
