Horncastle clean-up: '˜It was so good we're doing it all again!'

Horncastle's big town clean up was such a smashing success...they're set to do it all again!

Almost 50 volunteers took part in a range of events over the weekend of March 5-6 as part of the national ‘Clean for the Queen’ campaign.

On Saturday morning, a group which included some army cadets, collected litter or took part in a Rivercare event to clean up rubbish in the town’s rivers.

On Saturday afternoon, Horncastle and District Lions were out in force, cleaning signs around the 
town.

And on Sunday, a a group of councillors and volunteers painted bollards in the town centre.

Town mayor CounAngela Birchall said: “It is fantastic that local people gave up their free time to come out and tidy up their town.

“We are very grateful for their support.”

The clean-up was the start of a campaign being led by the town council to spruce up Horncastle.

More events are planned in the summer

At a town council meeting last week, it was agreed to hold another clean up in June - on the weekend before the town’s celebrations for the Queen’s 90th birthday.

More details will be announced soon.
