New path being spoilt by dog foul offenders

The creation of the River Ancholme cycle path may have been seen as a big success story of 2015, but walkers, anglers and cyclists have been quick to condemn the ever-increasing amount of dog mess left along the route.

North Lincolnshire Council, which constructed the path, invested £10,000 to provide dog bins along the route, but litter picking volunteers have noticed a rise in dog fouling, claiming dog owners are not clearing up after their pets.

“We know there are lots of responsible dog owners, but more need to be so,” said Coun Rob Waltham.

“The path is being spoilt at its edge – dog owners please take bags and clean up.”

Volunteers, organised by the Ancholme River Trust, litter pick on a monthly basis.

They meet at 10am by the County Bridge, but they are not there to pick up and clean away dog waste.

Dog owners are therefore being urged to take bags with them on their walks.

Members of the public can visit the North Lincolnshire Council website or contact 01724 297000 to report dog fouling offenders.
