Both Haven Bridge Road and Bargate Bridge areas were declared due to breaches in national air quality standards in relation to nitrogen dioxide, the main source of which is vehicular traffic, a council spokesperson said.

It has now developed an Air Quality Action Plan which sets out a number of measures it will look to deliver over the next five years in conjunction with partner organisations to try and improve air quality in these areas.

“Prior to the action plan being finalised we wish to consult as widely as possible on the draft plan to seek the views of Boston’s businesses and the public,” the spokesperson said.
