Tetford volunteers clean up in national initiative

They collected litter from around Tetford and Salmonby, up towards Fulletby, out to High Toynton and then from High Toynton to Horncastle, collecting almost 40 bags of rubbish, one toilet pan, two double glazed windows, assorted metal work and a small chest freezer minus the lid.

The volunteer group is supported by Tetford and Salmonby Parish Council and are now also sponsored by six local businesses - Grange Farm Holiday Breaks, Stratton Mercedes and Land Rover, The White Hart Inn, Brian Todd Homes, Aura Soma and Meridian Meats - as well as two residents of Tetford.

“At the time of writing, nearly 7,300 bags of litter have been collected nationwide which is a sad reflection of today’s throwaway society,” said group member Barbara Harden.

“This is the fourth litter pick we have taken part in and thanks to the generosity of our sponsors we have been able to kit out the volunteer with their own equipment and therefore not dependant on using loaned sticks from East Lindsey District Council.

“We also had kit donated from CPRE (The Campaign to Protect Rural England) and the owner of the Laurels Service Station has offered his support as well.

“So you will see the Tetford Volunteer Group out and about in their hi-Viz vests in the future.”
