Volunteers clear hundreds of pieces of litter from Louth’s Railway Walk
On September 13, six volunteers from Louth RiverCare took part in the local clear up - which would normally take place in the spring, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
The national campaign calls on the public to help clean our streets, beaches, waterways and green spaces.

Hide AdLouth RiverCare chose to focus their efforts on the Railway Walk, from Monks’ Dyke Road to Stewton Lane, as the location for their most recent litter pick, to support the work they do along the Louth Canal and River Lud.
In just two hours, the group cleared 10 full bags of rubbish, including over 200 cans and 100 plastic bottles, alongside crumpled foil balloons and dumped clothing.
Louth RiverCare’s leader, Alison Leeming, said:“I’m so glad to see that all that waste won’t be harming any other fellow residents of the planet.”
Louth RiverCare is an Anglian Water programme, run in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy, and they hope to organise another litter-pick soon.
