Yellow weather warning for icy conditions across Lincolnshire

Reports of cars skidding off roads were seen over the weekend with Lincolnshire Highways tweeting: "Constant gritting during the night . Dangerous conditions, rain falling on frozen roads. please take care. And drive to the conditions."

The Met Office predicts the cold weather will continue during the week, bringing wintry showers over higher ground.

This evening and tonight:

A very cold evening and night with further showers of rain, sleet and snow, these wintry over high ground where icy stretches are likely to form. Winds will be strong on coasts and over exposed hills. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Tuesday:

Continuing cold with further wintry showers, these of snow on higher ground. Brief sunny intervals are likely between showers. Brisk northeasterly winds, locally strong on coasts. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Cold with overnight frosts continuing. Fewer wintry showers on Wednesday, mainly dry on Thursday. Frost overnight with few wintry showers. Cold with sunny spells and few wintry showers on Friday.
