Environmental award boost for Louth business

A Louth business which offers luxury self-catering apartments has been recognised in the recent Lincolnshire Environmental Awards held in Lincoln.

The Brackenborough Hall Coach House, run by Paul and Flora Bennett, saw off tough competition to be awarded with the Best Farm and Rural Enterprise Award.

The awards ceremony was held at The Bentley Hotel.

Mr Bennett said: “We are delighted to have been recognised for the quality of our self-catering accommodation and the environmental work that we undertake on the farm.”

The awards were designed to recognise and celebrate inspiring activities which help to improve the environment and encourage sustainability. 

Mr Bennett has shown his commitment to the environment by entering a Countryside Stewardship Scheme and the business is now is part of a higher level environmental scheme. A carbon-neutral biomass boiler heats the apartments and solar panels have been installed to produce green electricity.

Mr Bennett added: “The Bennett family are proud to have been farming at Brackenborough for over 100 years, caring for the environment, both on the farm and also by restoring the listed buildings.

“We have welcomed over 8,000 guests to our self-catering accommodation since we opened in 2007 and we enjoy showing our visitors how we manage our farm for the benefit of future generations.”
