EVICTED: Nightmare neighbour who made lives of tenants '˜living Hell' and caused £2,000 worth of damage

Megan Shaw was evicted from her council-owned flat at Greenacre Road in May following months of anti-social behaviour that involved Nottinghamshire Police and A1 Housing Officers visiting the property numerous times.

Known drugs users visiting the property, shouting, swearing, playing loud music and creating excessive noise at all hours of the day and night.

Nottinghamshire Police having to intervene in five incidents that occurred at the property, some of which included physical violence.

Criminal damage caused to the property totalling around £2,000 including damage to security doors, graffiti inside the property, and a can of pink paint thrown over the walls that covered a Jack Russell dog.

Shaw, a former A1 Housing tenant, also failed to make regular payments to her rent account and accumulated arrears of over £1,000.

Councillor Julie Leigh, cabinet member for neighbourhoods at Bassetlaw District Council, said: “This tenant showed complete disregard and disrespect for both the welfare of her neighbours and the law.

“Her behaviour and that of her visitors was deplorable and I am pleased that the courts saw fit to support our application to regain possession of the property.

“I hope now that the tenants who live at Greenacre Road can return to normality and live without fear of being threatened and abused in their own homes.”

Don Spittlehouse, Managing director of A1 Housing, said: “I would like to highlight the hard work by A1 Housing and ouncil officers, as well as Nottinghamshire Police, to ensure that Ms Shaw was evicted from the property and the flat returned to the local authority.

“Threatening and anti-social behaviour has no place in our communities and A1 Housing and the Council will have no hesitation in taking legal action against any tenant who behaves in the way that Ms Shaw and her associates did.”
