An annual four-day festival dedicated to the UK’s heritage returns this week, with numerous events planned in the Sleaford area.

Heritage Open Days runs until Sunday, offering people across the country thousands of opportunities to learn more about their local historical and cultural treasures for free.

Among events planned in the Sleaford area are:

n Milling at Cogglesford Mill, in Sleaford, on Sunday, from 11am to 4.30pm.

n An exhibition detailing 2,000 years of Sleaford’s past from the Old Sleaford Heritage Group at Navigation Yard, in Sleaford, on Saturday, from 10am to 4pm.

n Natural Lincolnshire, a showcase of work by local artists at St Denis’ Church, in Silk Willoughby, on all days from 10am to 4.30pm.

Coun Marion Brighton, leader of North Kesteven District Council, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to discover the wealth of history within our beautiful district.

“We are so fortunate to have places such as Navigation House and Cogglesford Mill, which tell a story of the history of the area.”

She added: “I encourage everyone to make the most of this event to found more about where they live, from its roots to where it is today.”
