Failed thief sent down

A persistent offender has been jailed for four months after attempting to steal a £349 laptop from Currys.

Matthew Morris, 40, from Queen Street, Worksop, admitted to the offence on 26th September.

Defending, David Verity said: “He accepts he did initially have the intention of stealing it. The item was recovered and he knows the serious situation he finds himself in.”

The court heard how Morris had a drink problem and was seeking help.

District Judge Diane Baker told him: “It’s another theft. I think alcohol has got such a grip on you.”
