The original appeal was posted online yesterday morning, and has since been shared by almost 100 people.

Louth woman Amanda Wood saw the article about her cat (who is now known to be a three-year-old named Molly) being shared around on Facebook, and quickly visited the vets to bring her beloved family pet back home.

Amanda said: “I knew she had gone walk about for a few days, but then she does from time to time.

“My little boy Brodie especially will be very pleased - he is 16 months old and likes to feed the cat about 20 times a day!”

Amanda’s daughter Francesca, pictured, was also delighted to have Molly back at home safe and sound.

• Thank you to everybody who shared the original appeal.
