The film is about Fred Spiksley who became an international footballer and globetrotting coach.

He was the winner of every major English football honour as well as scoring 131 goals in 124 games for Trinity, his hometown club.

The story looks at the birth, growth and domination of the beautiful game, featuring a local man who became a celebrity.

Darron Childs, practice principal, said: “As the present sponsors of the home jersey where Fred started his career we thought it only fitting that DCP should stand behind the making of this film.”

To recognise his achievements, The Delvers local history group has announced it will dedicate a new blue plaque to Fred at Northolme, Trinity’s home ground, later this year.

Mr Childs said: “In an age where professional footballers can earn telephone number salaries over a career often measured in seasons, it is long overdue that the remarkable life of Fred Spiksley is not only honoured in his home town, but also global-
ly.

“DCP looks forward to celebrating the life of the great man in film and with a new blue plaque, which will be like welcoming our long lost son back home.”
