Farm shop wins a '˜crop' of honours

Over the years the shop has picked up many honours and this year it has walked away with armfuls from the biennial Lincolnshire Poacher event.

The Lincolnshire Poacher looks to celebrates the best of Lincolnshire’s products. It is organised by the marketing organisation Lincolnshire County Foods.

James Pinchin, who owns the business with wife Henny, said winning awards like these mean ‘everything’, adding: “It helps us because it’s promotion for us and the better the promotion is, the better it is for us. For example our food hygiene rating – along with these food awards – is helping us.”

He said that the reason they are running a good business is because of a number of factors.

“We receive great feedback from customers,” he said. “We judge our own food, so if we like it and the customers feedback is positive then we know it’s good. We also get new ideas from our customers, for example the orange cranberry burger.”

The burger was one of the six products to win a gold award.

The five other products which received gold were the business’ pork sausages, steak pie, dry-cured bacon, apple-wood smoked bacon, and maple-dry bacon.

They also received silver awards for their Lincolnshire sausage, gluten-free sausage, bacon burger, and beef sausage.

They received eight bronze awards as well.

James said winning the awards was ‘wonderful’ and that it’s ‘marvellous to get anything’.

He added: “We put in a lot of hard work and it’s nice to get recognition for that.

“We are excited to win the prizes.”
