FEATURE: Ringo joined The Beatles while at Butlin's

The list of those who've performed at Butlin's camps over the years is an impressive one.

Double act Laurel and Hardy are among the greats who took to the stage at Skegness, while Bruce Forsyth and Benny Hill both appeared at Sunday Night Celebrity Concerts held in the resorts.

Famous musicians to have played Butlin’s are The Hollies, The Four Tops and Fats Domino, while Status Quo actually formed at Butlin’s Minehead and returned there for the opening night of their 25th anniversary tour.

Ringo Starr was performing at Skegness with a band called Rory Storm and the Hurricanes when he received a phone call from John Lennon asking if he was interested in joining The Beatles.

Other names to take to the Butlin’s stage include Cliff Richard, Paul McCartney and a young Catherine Zeta Jones who took part in a talent contest.
