Entertainment came in the form of a Christmas market and performances from local dance schools.

Later on there were performers from a Blues Brother tribute act, Retford band The Torn, carols and a superb set from headliners Coldplace.

Then as the sky went dark, came the moment everyone had been waiting for.

Team GB paralympian Crystal Lane joined Bassetlaw Council chairman Coun Ian Campbell and the Help For Heroes bear on stage for the big count down.

The sky lit up with colourful and twinkling lights which will be there for shoppers to see throughout the festive season.
