Finishing touches being carried out for Easter concert in Louth

The main item is an enduring favourite amongst choirs and audiences alike – Sir John Stainer’s cantata ‘The Crucifixion.’ Written in 1887, this work has remained enormously popular ever since.

Conductor Martin Pickering said: “The Crucifixion is regularly performed by church choirs up and down the country but is less frequently heard sung by a large chorus where the dramatic music is especially effective.”

Also featuring in the program is a rare opportunity to hear the extended setting of the “Magnificat” for unaccompanied double choir by Charles Villiers Stanford conducted by David Parker.

Louth Choral Society will also be joined for this concert by John Barrow and Jonathan Stork as soloists and by Barry Whitfield, highly accomplished professional musician and organist.
