Firbeck: Village prepares for a scarecrow invasion

Firbeck village is preparing for a scarecrow invasion on the weekend of the 13th to 15th September.

Scarecrows will be seen all around the village from Saturday morning to Monday evening with a trail map to help visitors see them all.

Trail maps are £2 and available from the village hall or Simon Copley on 01709 814471.

Both the village hall and St Martin’s Church will be open from 10.30am to 3pm on Saturday.

The Hall will serve for refreshments and also display photographs for the 2015 village calendar competition and there will be a country dancing demonstration.

On Sunday, the church will be open for the harvest service in the morning and then from 2-4pm.

On Monday the hall will serve coffee from 10am to 12noon with the church harvest supper at the hall in the evening when all scarecrows will gather at for a photo and a prize draw for one lucky owner.
