Fire crew race for charity

Retford firefighters will celebrate the Charity’s 70th anniversary with the London to Brighton 100km endurance challenge this weekend.

Firefighters PaulMcLafferty and Russell Kay, watch man ager Andrew Alton, station manager Chris Clark and vrew manager StevenBull, all based at RetfordFireStation, will embark on a challenge of a lifetime to raise fundsforTheFire Fighters Charity.

They will don their uniforms for the special race which will see them run and walk 100km from London toBrighton between25thand 26thMay.

Theteam’s challenge will startatRichmond’s Old DeerPark, inLondon, then see themrun/walk on and off road.

FirefighterRussell Kaysaid it was an honour to take part in the challenge to raise money for a fantastic cause.

“We have been training so hard now and we are looking forward to completing it.”

“I’ve not yet had to call upon the services of The Firefighters Charity, but it is good to know that if one day I need them the charity will be there for me and I will have done my part to help raise money for the cause,” he said.
