Fire service joins Twitter

Notts Fire and Rescue Service has launched its own Twitter page.

More than 700 people have already registered to follow @nottsfire through Twitter.

The service will be using it to share information about events, campaigns, recruitment, safety initiatives and incidents.

“Social networking is an increasingly popular way for people to share information and we want to be able to engage with local communities in a way which is more convenient and accessible to them,” said Deputy Chief Fire Officer Andy Beale.

“We hope that using Twitter will be a good way for us to talk to some people we may not usually be able to reach, as well as those who like to keep in touch what what’s happening locally, while they stay on the move.”

NFRS is also preparing to launch its Facebook page in the spring.
