Firefighter set to run for Heroes

A FIREFIGHTER and former soldier from Hemswell is embarking on a huge 100 mile challenge for Help For Heroes.

Andy Reilly, 30, above, will run from Castle Howard in North Yorkshire to Lincoln Castle in just 24 hours.

“The route is approximately 100 miles taking me over the North Yorkshire Wolds, the Humber Bridge and through Lincolnshire towns like Brigg, Kirton in Lindsey, Gainsborough and Sturton By Stow,” said Andy, who works as a firefighter in Malton, North Yorkshire. He hopes to finish at the Lincoln 10k road race finishing line on Sunday, 25th March.

Andy said: “I wanted to do a challenge on par with the kind of challenges our troops face when they return injured from operational duties.”

“I quickly realised that nothing I came up with would come close to the hard work and determination shown by our troops during their recovery and beyond.”

So Andy came up with his Castle2Castle 100 challenge which will be a tough test for him as he has never tried long distance running before.
