Crew members will be working up a sweat for the Fire Fighters Charity at Skegness Fire Station, in Churchill Avenue, on Saturday, from 10am to 4pm.

Sunday’s efforts raised £137.29 and the firefighters are hoping to raise even more on Saturday.

The car washes have been supported by Motor Parts Direct, of Lincoln and Boston, which has donated equipment to the service.

Matt King, deputy divisional commander and charity representative for East Division, says he hopes as many people as possible will support the crews. He said: “At this time of year when it’s still cold outside, washing your car may not be on the list of things you want to do, so let us do the hard work for you.

“Our crews will be on hand at various locations across the county, armed with bucket and sponges and ready to lather up and make your car squeaky clean.

“It’s a great opportunity to get your car washed, meet your local firefighters and make a difference to a worthwhile cause. It’s also a good opportunity for anyone interested in joining the team to talk to the crews and find out what it’s really like to be an on-call firefighter.”
