Flood warning for South Holland, Deepings and Bourne areas

Heavy rain overnight has led to warnings of possible flooding being issued for the South Holland, Deepings and Bourne areas today.

The warning from the Environment Agency covers areas around the lower Rivers Welland and Glen, as well as Bourne Eau which runs across from Dyke to Surfleet.

An Environement Agency spokesman said: “Significant rain has fallen overnight and the river levels are rising.

“We expect the River Welland to continue to rise into Thursday, with low lying land and roads likely to be affected first.”

The heavy rainfall has been blamed on “the low pressure system that moved across the area yesterday”, the spokesman confirmed

However. no significant rainfall is expected through today.
