Families can join in the walking trail, following a map of the parish, at any time between December 19 and 27.

Setting off from St Botolph’s Church, where they collect their copy of the map, they look out for stars dotted around at locations in people’s windows around Quarrington. On each star is a letter of the alphabet, explained parish administrator Maria Fryer.

Once back at the churchyard they must rearrange the letters to make a Christmas message or carol. Once completed they can hang a star on the tree outside the church.

Last year the church held two Crib Services with miore than 200 children attending. As this is not covid safe this year, they are holding a Lights Around the Crib event in the churchyard from 3pm to 3.30pm on Christmas Eve.

Youngsters and their parents can bring a tealight in a jar and place it near the crib and place a star on the tree.

Mrs Fryer explained: “We are not allowed to sing in church at the moment and there would be too many people indoors, so we are asking people to turn up in a safely spaced way during the period from 3pm to 3.30pm.”
