Former Boston and Skegness UKIP candidate takes up new post

Robin Hunter-Clarke announced today (Monday), that he would be stepping down as the Vote Leave campaign’s UKIP Coordinator for the EU Referendum claiming he was ‘confident we will win on June 23’.

The county-councillor for Skegness South then went on to confirm he had taken up his new role.

Tweeting the news he said: “Today I have stepped down as the @vote_leave National UKIP Coordinator. I have enjoyed every minute & am confident we will win on June 23!

“I am delighted however to take up a new role with @NeilUKIP as his Chief of Staff.”

Mr Hunter-Clarke gained 14,645 votes in the constituency in the May 2015 General Election - putting the party in second place behind Conservative Matt Warman.

Both Neil and Christine Hamilton have been huge supporters of Mr Hunter-Clarke, coming to Boston during his campaign and on election night.

At the time, Mrs Hamilton described him as ‘a wonderful person’, adding: “Whatever happens tonight he has a great future ahead of him.

“We’re here because we’re massive friends with Robin and we believe in him as a wonderful young man.”

Mr Hamilton said Robin was ‘spectacularly good’, adding: “He’s got all the cards stacked in his favour”

Mr Hamilton is currently the UKIP’s leader in the Welsh Assembly and is a member for Mid and West Wales.
