Four injured after Firbeck two car crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the accident which happened at 3.28pm on Monday on the A634 Maltby Road, around 80 metres east of Thornbury Hill Lane in Firbeck.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A maroon Ford Fiesta, travelling from Firbeck towards Oldcotes, is believed to have been on the wrong side of the road when a white Toyota Hilux, travelling in the opposite direction, rounded a bend and a collision occurred.”

“The driver of the Fiesta, a 35-year-old man from the Lowedges area of Sheffield, suffered a fractured right leg and a fractured pelvis. He was due to undergo surgery at Rotherham Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.”

“His rear seat passenger, a 26-year-old Lowedges man, suffered broken ribs and other serious injuries and was taken to the same hospital.”

Both are said to be in a ‘serious but stable’ condition.

Another passenger in the Fiesta, a 39-year-old man from Lowedges, sustained whiplash and bruising. He was treated at Rotherham Hospital, but was not detained.

The Toyota driver, a 51-year-old man from Maltby, suffered whiplash and bruising and did not go to hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw the manner that either vehicle was being driven just prior to the crash.
