Fraudsters claim to be with Flying Squad
Fraud officers are warning residents over a scam in which people can be conned out of thousands of pounds.
Nottinghamshire Police said a victim had recently received a phone call from criminals claiming to be from the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad.
They told the victim to withdraw thousands of pounds and pass it to a courier to help ironically catch fraudsters targeting their account.
Fraud investigator Alex Hargreaves said: “This is a type of fraud that has been used up and down the country and it is apparent that a gang is active in the area.”
Police reiterated that they would never ask for bank details PINs.
