This week readers can savour a refreshing cup of tea or a speciality coffee in The Lemon Tree Tea Room at Epworth, that has linked with the Epworth Bells to offer the drinks completely free of charge.

The tea room is located within Holmes and Garden Centre off Belton Road, that has served the Isle for over 35 years. Despite rumours that have circulated saying that it is to close, it is in fact still very much open for business, said owner David Holmes.

Holmes and Gardens is a traditional garden centre with staff who are only too pleased to offer help and advice to new or not-so-confident gardeners, said Mr Holmes.

He added: “We aim not only to be competitive in price but perhaps most importantly to offer a good consistent quality.”

Along with its huge array of items for the garden, including this new season’s garden furniture, Holmes and Gardens has a large range of products for indoors with an extensive gift area full of ideas to suit most occasions. There is jewellery, clothing, cut-price books and even limited edition teddy bears.

The centre also stocks a wide range of bird care, pet products and Middy fishing gear.

The Lemon Tree Tea Room and Restaurant has been an integral and popular part of the garden centre for many years now.

Mr Holmes said: “To thank our regular customers and to entice new customers to come and see what they are missing here, we are offering a free cup of tea or speciality coffee on production of the voucher that is printed in this week’s Epworth Bells.”

Like the garden centre, the Lemon Tree is highly traditional and a big attraction is that the vast majority of cakes and hot meals are home made on the premises; the meat and potato pie being a particular hot favourite choice, which is available every day from 11.30am to 2pm.

The owner continued: “On Mondays we do a special which is a hot main course with a jam or treacle sponge for £6.25. For peace of mind, you can be assured we source all of our meat from local butchers and that we score a five, the highest rating on the food hygiene score.

“We look forward to seeing and welcoming customers old and new, and hope you will take advantage of this free offer.”
