Fun in the sun at Springthorpe fete

THE RAIN clouds parted and the sun shone down on Springthorpe Village Garden Fete for an afternoon of welly wanging, live music and cake.

Steve Gelder threw the farthest boot with a whopping 107ft 10ins. In second place was Harry Gelder with a respectable 79ft. And third came Maureen Nelson with 47ft.

Elsewhere, musical entertainment was provided by Blow Me Down woodwinds from Willingham.

And there was fun, games and plenty to feast on all day.

“We would like to say a really big thank you to all those who helped in any way, particularly those who came and supported the fete,” said organiser Tom Graham.

A fantastic £1,455 was raised for Springthorpe village church.

l Organisers of the treasure hunt would like to get in touch with Charlotte Elliott who was third place winner. Please call the Standard on 01427 615232.
