Fundraising fanatic will hit '¨the streets again

Wayne, 30, from Louth, will be participating in a gruelling half marathon (13.1 miles) 
as part of the ‘Simplyhealth’ Great Manchester Run on 
Sunday May 28.

All the sponsorship money that Wayne raises will go to Mind, the national mental health charity which supports and provides advice to people whether they are stressed, depressed, or suffering a personal crisis.

As usual, Wayne will be carrying out his fundraising activity in fancy dress.

He is pictured (right) in the entrance hall of his workplace, the Co-Op supermarket in Northgate last month, collecting money ahead of 
his half marathon challenge.

Wayne is hoping to raise at least £650 through his efforts, and he has already 
raised more than £600.

Wayne told the Leader: “This isn’t the longest run I have done, but due to not getting into the London Marathon this year I am doing two half marathons instead, of which Manchester is the first.

“I have been supported by the Northgate Co-operative manager, Chris Hill, who has let me use the entrance of 
the store to do the fancy dress fundraisers.”

Wayne is a customer team member at the Co-op where he has worked for more than 12 years, and the company 
has supported him with many of his fundraising efforts.

Last year, he raised more than £2,900 for charity in the London Marathon.
