Fur-ensic crime scene experts employed by fire service

Two furry fire investigators are the latest recruits to Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, and will work in the Isle and across the area.

Labrador Etta and Aston, a Springer Spaniel, have undergone intensive training to become two of only 17 fire investigation dogs nationally.

They will be used when investigations in to fires that are thought to have been started deliberately are taking place.

Both dogs have their own fire kits with protective boots.

Aston’s handler John Willingham said: “I am looking forward to getting out to incidents and putting their training to good use.” The dogs could be in post for about eight years.
