Further arrests made for Nottinghamshire robbery

Seven more people have been arrested in connection with a robbery at a jewellers in Newark.

Police were called at around 4.55pm on Wednesday January 6 to the shop in Stodman Street.

Four men entered the shop and threatened workers with a weapon, thought to be a gun, before making off with a quantity of jewellery.

No shots were fired and no one was injured although workers were left shaken by the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses and particularly keen to speak to a female shopper who was in the jewellers at the time. She is described as white with dark brown hair. She was holding a number of carrier bags.

The offenders made off towards Castlegate after leaving the shop.

A 26-year-old man was previously arrested on suspicion of robbery. He is currently in police custody.

The seven other people have all been released on bail pending further investigations
