Several pubs already have fantastic displays throughout the summer months but the Gainsborough In Bloom team would like to see this rolled out into a fully fledged competition.

Jo Biddle said: “Whether its hanging baskets, planted tubs or window baskets that tickle your fancy please you can take part in our competition.”

If you would like to take part call 01427.810706 or express your interest on Facebook or Twitter and you will be sent application form to let you know how and when your areas will be judged.

Also contact the team if you would like advice on how to become more floral and a team member will come and help you.

Gainsborough achieved silver last year and this year’s team are aiming to do even better and are going for gold.

The group of unpaid volunteers have been working tirelessly for more than five years now to improve the look of the town.

Work completed in the town so far includes brightening up the area around Queen Elizabeth’s High School and tidying up Morton Corner.

Jo added: “We are always looking for more areas and sponsorship.”

“A big thank you to Tesco, Gainsborough Golf Club and Murco Petrol Station.”

“There are various things we’re doing.”

As well as volunteers, the group also need gardening tools to help them with their projects, and tools can be dropped off with a member of the Marshall’s Yard security team or you can arrange for your tools to be collected by calling the Marshall’s Yard centre management team on 01427 810706.
