Gainsborough: Charity Fight Night helped raise funds for GAPA

Due to the success of previous events held by the Old School Fight Club based in Gainsborough the evening of Friday 20th February saw the return of its Charity Fight Night event held at the X-Church in Ashcroft Road.

The event showcased the talents of 20 local amateur boxers who met face to face in the ring in front of an enthusiastic crowd of 220 people.

Organiser Antony La Rocca said: “Over the last 18 months we’ve held two charity boxing events with huge success, raising money for our gym and a local Sunday league football team. “

“On this occasion we also wanted to donate to a local charity that works with children and chose GAPA.”

The Old School Fight Club were delighted to be able to present GAPA with £380.

GAPA Manager, Lisa Pinkney, said: “The event was extremely well organised and was a great night of sport and entertainment and a really fun way to spend a winters evening.”

“We are all very grateful for the donation which will be put towards exciting plans for the development and improvement of the outside play area on our two acre green field site.”

GAPA is situated on the Park Springs Estate in Gainsborough and has been open for over 40 years with thousands of local children and families accessing each year.

The playground’s team of 12 staff provide services all year round for children aged from 0 to 14-years-old.
