On Friday, December 16, cubs from every scout district across the UK will take part in the Cubs Promise Renewal.

This will see them renew the promise, which they made when they first became members of their cub pack.

This will round off the cubs’ centenary celebrations and Gainsborough cubs and their families will gather in the Market Place from 6pm and join in with camp fire songs and carols ready to renew their promise at 7.16pm.

This is the exact time that wolf cubs, as they were originally known, were registered 100 years ago.

Jonathan Swatton, group scout leader at 6th Gainsborough, said: “We would like to see past cub scouts and leaders at this event as they have contributed to the success of cub scouting in Gainsborough district and brought much fun and enjoyment to youngsters.”
