And they want to hear from those who were once there in capacities good and bad.

“The Old Nick was, for over 100 years, the Divisional Headquarters of the Lincolnshire Constabulary and the former Magistrates’ Court,” said a group spokesman.

“It has remained virtually untouched since the police and magistrates left in the mid seventies.”

“The cells and exercise yards are exactly as they were left, complete with graffiti.”

The courtroom was converted into a small theatre in 1979 but the basic structure remains visible and unaltered.

The Trustees are now looking to establish the Old Nick as an interactive learning resource for the community.

Based on the history of the Lincolnshire Constabulary, the plan is to have guided tours, dramatic re-enactments and educational programmes will bring life to the judical system of the time.

Trustees are keen to hear from anyone who worked at the Old Nick either in the police force, or as a civilian worker, or in the magistrates’ court.

They would particularly like to hear from anyone who spent a night in the cells and perhaps left graffiti on the walls.
