Gainsborough: Did you see man driving a JCB before cash machine was stolen?

Officers investigating the theft of a cash machine from a petrol station in Lea Road, Gainsborough in the early hours of Monday 24th February have issued a witness appeal.

They would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man driving a JCB in the area of Northolme in Gainsborough at around 8pm on Sunday 22nd February.

It is believed that the offenders stole a JCB teleporter on the previous evening from a building site there.

The vehicle is yellow in colour and it is highly likely the lights were turned off.

It is thought the JCB could have travelled the route of along Northolme left onto Spital Hill, right onto Cox’s Hill, right onto Middlefield lane, and then right onto Foxby Hill.

In addition, officers would like to talk to any witnesses who may have seen a JCB in convoy with two 4x4 vehicles at around 4am on Monday 23rd February in Lea Road.

The 4x4 vehicles in question are a 1994 Toyota Utility Hilux in grey and an Isuzu trooper, dark blue in colour.

The Toyota had the back cut off, and it is believed the two 4x4 vehicles were driven off along Lea Road and then turned left onto Carr Lane, Gainsborough.

Following the theft of the ATM it is thought that the vehicles involved were driven down Carr Lane and across land onto an area known locally as Lea Marshes.
