Gainsborough Town Manager, Samantha Mellows, said: “Gainsborough Town Partnership is encouraged by the addition of a national name to the Gainsborough High Street.”

“The arrival of Domino’s shows confidence in Gainsborough as an ideal location to expand their business, and with support from organisations including the Town Partnership, we hope investment continues to pave the way for further businesses to relocate or expand across the town.”

“This new store opening will create job opportunities for local people which will also support the local economy, therefore this new development has the full support of the Gainsborough Town Partnership.”

Wendy Osgodby, Senior Growth Strategy and Projects Officer at West Lindsey District Council, said: “The news that Domino’s is considering coming to Gainsborough really shows that the town is open for business.”

“Combined with the recent news that a Premier Inn is also being opened should mean that more developers are seeing Gainsborough and West Lindsey in general as great places to do business.”

“The jobs that this will potentially bring are also welcome, but this kind of business also adds to the diversity of the town, which already supports international franchises as well as a host of independent traders and a thriving market place.”

Residents of Gainsborough have given their view on the news that Domino’s is looking to come to Gainsborough on the Gainsborough Standard’s Facebook page and the views are that the town does not need another fast food outlet.

Jenny Adair said: “Do we really need any more fast food and takeaways in town?”

Lucy Cappetta feels more retail shops or nice restaurants are needed rather than fast food.

She commented: “How about new shops? New clothes shops new places to go for a nice meal, not fast food places. I think you need to think what people really want.”

And Darren Lloyd thinks it could effect other fast food outlets in the town.

Darren said: “It’s bound to have a knock on effect.”
