The academy in Heapham Road, Gainsborough, were rated outstanding in all areas including Teaching and Learning, Leadership and Management of the school, Behaviour and Safety and Achievement of Pupils.

This is a great achievement for the academy and the principal as she has suffers from Fibromyalgia and enlarged brain ventricles which makes mobility difficult for her.

Academy principal, Julie McDonald, said: “The governors have been very supportive of my disability and we are looking at changing the holidays to accommodate.”

“When I’m not at work and I haven’t got anything to focus my brain on my symptoms can get worse and I feel worse.”

“And shorter holidays means the years get more of a rhythm for the children and their learning.

“Especially because they are so little.”

“Our pupils during the inspection were amazing.”

“They were well behaved, thoughtful and worked very hard.”

“The pupils who were selected by the inspection team to read to them or meet with them charmed our visitors by their hard work and opinions of the life of the Academy.”

“Pupils were praised for their outstanding behaviour and their exceptional attitudes to learning.”

“The inspectors noted that the academy’s standards were significantly above the national average and that pupils make rapid progress.”

“They said that our pupils have an excellent start in our Nursery and Reception and this leads to our Year 1 and Year 2 achieving exceptionally well.”

“Our lively, broad and fun curriculum is praised.”
