Gainsborough: Lydia has them all laughing with memorable stories

Lydia, 23, a farmer’s daughter was brought up on a sheep farm in the Peak District and prior to successfully obtaining a business degree at Cirencester Agricultural College she spent a year as a volunteer in Swaziland with the Project Trust Charity.
She is now in London studying for a masters degree in business management, concerning food production and distribution around the world.

Her main interest now is in ensuring that people the world over are well fed.
At the beginning of her talk Lydia talked hilariously of her life on her parents’ sheep farm and of how her life differed from those of her friends.
In her year as a volunteer Lydia learned to speak the local language and made friends with the local people some of whom she is still in contact with.
And it was here that she saw the huge differences in agriculture and food production which made her want to make a difference.
